The RBC Community Gallery

Helping Canadian artists gain exposure to the widest possible audience motivates RBC to share its art collection with galleries and public spaces worldwide. To further support and amplify the works of Canadian artists, RBC recently established the first permanent, public-facing display of its art collection, the RBC Community Gallery, located at RBC Plaza, 200 Bay St. in Toronto, and is free for all visitors.

Current Exhibition: Archives of Influence

The artworks presented in Archives of Influence are connected by themes and artistic approaches that endure generations. Senior and historical artists are presented alongside emerging and contemporary artists exploring subjects of landscape, technology and architecture. Contemporary artists pull inspiration from aesthetic, familial and ethereal sources, looking to the future, while acknowledging the past.

The artworks presented here are part of the RBC Art Collection, established in 1929 and actively growing. The collection consists of historic and contemporary Canadian, Indigenous and Inuit art, with a focus on acquiring work by emerging artists.

RBC supports IAF through programming to help artists navigate their careers in the rapidly changing conditions of the art market. The IAF offers online workshops tailored to emerging Inuit artists covering topics such as marketing and pricing work; writing and maintaining CVs; applying for grants; navigating distribution systems; working with representatives; and understanding and benefiting from their intellectual property. In addition, the offer profile opportunity to Ingenious artists to provide a broader platform for their work.

RBC supports the National Gallery of Canada’s Canadian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, a dedicated acquisition fund to purchase works by Canadian emerging artists for the first time and support of the Recreation Fund that’s committed to broadening the knowledge base of the Indigenous arts form and how to continue to.

RBC invests in the WAG’s new Inuit Art Centre to create new opportunities for Inuit artists, Upon its opening in February 2021, Qaumajuq will be home to the world's largest public collection of contemporary Inuit art. The centre connected to the WAG on all levels will amplify the voices of the artists and bridge Canada's North and South through exhibitions, research, education, and art making.
