Mark Beckles receives Fellow Of The Transformation Institute

TORONTO - July 2018 - RBC is featured in 150 Extraordinary Canadians, a new 332-page coffee table book profiling leaders and innovators for their corporate, public sector and philanthropic contributions to Canada’s progress. Launched June 15 at a gala hosted by The Transformation Institute For Leadership & Innovation, this legacy book recognizes RBC’s CEO Dave McKay for his vision and leadership in transforming RBC’s retail division to meet changing consumer demands, and for contributing to Canada’s global competitiveness. Youth Strategy & Innovation senior director Mark Beckles is highlighted as a thought leader and trusted advisor, and is recognized for his dedication to helping communities prosper.

McKay and Beckles are joined by other successful Canadians such as Titanic director James Cameron, music icon Celine Dion, astronaut Chris Hadfield, and Indigenous architect Douglas Cardinal, among others.

At the gala, Mark Beckles was also designated Fellow Of The Transformation Institute (FTI), a non-profit organization dedicated to cultivating positive change through collaboration, technology and harnessing the power of diversity. Beckles delivered the keynote address which talked about the responsibilities of being a citizen of Canada. He said: “I wake up every morning proud to be a Canadian and to know that I am a better human being for the benefit of living in this incredibly rich multi-cultural milieu, where I can learn or experience something new every day. Where the diverse thoughts, opinions and cultures enhance my very being.”

Since 2010, the Institute’s awards program and activities have encouraged and celebrated cross cultural integration, seeking to empower and showcase all facets of Canada’s diversity.

The 150 Extraordinary Canadians legacy book is available on the Transformation Institute’s website. Proceeds support their Crossover Mentorship Program, which pairs recognized leaders with youth for mentorship in career, academics, leadership, entrepreneurship, and life coaching.
