RBC wins Clean City Awards

TORONTO, March 2016 - RBC was recently honoured by the City of London, UK, with two prestigious 2015 Clean City awards within the "Large Site" category, which includes organizations with more than 200 employees. RBC’s environmental sustainability initiatives at our Riverbank House building received a Platinum Award, while those at the Thames Court building earned a Gold Award.

The Clean City Awards program, established in 1994, aims to develop partnerships with London businesses by raising the profile of responsible waste management, while recognizing and rewarding good practice by encouraging businesses to 'Reduce, Reuse and Recycle'. To date, RBC has won awards for eight consecutive years, with a total of eleven Gold and five Platinum awards received.

Many initiatives have set us apart from our competitors and earned us Platinum. Examples include installation of a filtered water system with reusable glasses and bottles, implementing double-sided printing by default, providing bean-to-cup coffee machines, with employees taking home the coffee grounds for their gardens, and setting up an annual deep clean, where items left by employees are donated to a local homeless charity.

RBC is committed to continuous improvement of environmental management, as outlined in the RBC Environmental Blueprint. The Blueprint clearly articulates RBC’s corporate environmental policy, priorities and objectives, which drives our programming for environmental sustainability in our locations around the world.
