RBC named Canada’s 2011 “Bank of the Year”: The Banker

TORONTO — December 2, 2011 — RBC has been named the 2011 “Bank of the Year” for Canada, awarded by the world’s oldest international banking magazine, The Banker. This is the second time that the Banker has honoured RBC with this title in Canada. The first was in 2007.

RBC was recognized for maintaining its strong leadership position, having a healthy international presence, and being resilient throughout the global financial crisis. RBC Wealth Management and RBC Capital Markets were given kudos for being key to our overall strategy in the U.S. and for performing well in the face of the European sovereign debt crisis.

The Banker’s Bank of the Year Award reflects the success and overall achievements of the world’s top financial institutions. The award, given to a single bank in each country, is for the best overall performance in the previous period incorporating the performance criteria of qualitative achievements and strategic initiatives.
