TORONTO, October 7, 2011- For the fourth consecutive year, RBC has been selected as one of Canada's "Top 100 Employers" by Mediacorp Canada Inc. in its annual survey of Canadian businesses.
The recognition program looks at people practices and invited roughly 13,000 organizations to apply. Selection of the Top 100 was based on an assessment of many aspects of the workplace including employee communications, performance management, training and career development, total rewards and diversity. Charitable efforts and community involvement were also considered.
"We take our commitment to our employees seriously," said Gord Nixon, RBC president and chief executive officer. "We invest in recruiting outstanding people, building their knowledge and skills, and providing a flexible and rewarding work environment in which to learn and grow. It's an investment that has established RBC as an employer of choice."
RBC was recognized for rewards that go above and beyond traditional compensation, such as flexible work arrangements, career development, a flexible health benefits plan, and scholarships awarded to children of employees. RBC recognizes that one size doesn't fit all and employees don't have identical needs and priorities so our Total Rewards package spans the choice and flexibility that employees desire.
"We are a diverse company with different businesses operating in many regions, yet all of us at RBC share common values and a common purpose," said Zabeen Hirji, chief human resources officer at RBC. "Everyday, we come to work with people that we not only respect as unique individuals, but with whom we have a common bond. That is the true source of our success and what lives at the heart of a great company like RBC."
This year's winners are being announced today in a special editorial supplement in The Globe and Mail.
