RBC recognized as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers for 2010

Canada's Top 100 Employers 2010October, 2009 – For the second consecutive year, RBC has been selected as one of Canada's "Top 100 Employers" by Mediacorp Canada Inc. in its annual survey of Canadian businesses. This year's list of top employers appeared in a special edition of Maclean's magazine on October 8, 2009.

The recognition looks at people practices of more than 75,000 organizations and companies, inviting roughly 16,000 organizations to apply. Selection of the Top 100 was based on assessment of workplace practices such as professional development, communications, commitment to diversity, performance management, benefits, as well as physical work conditions, and atmosphere. Charitable efforts and community involvement were also considered.

"This recognition is a testament to the kind of workplace our employees have created," said Gord Nixon, RBC president and chief executive officer. "We make a significant effort to attract, retain and develop our people so that we meet our clients' evolving needs. Our people make RBC a great place to work."

Specifically, RBC was recognized for rewards that go above and beyond traditional compensation, such as flexible work arrangements, career development, a flexible health benefits plan, and scholarships awarded to employees' children. RBC recognizes that no two employees have identical needs and priorities so our Total Rewards package spans the choice and flexibility that employees desire.

"At RBC we understand that a high-engagement culture based on shared values is part of our competitive advantage," said Zabeen Hirji, chief human resources officer at RBC. "Our commitment to providing an environment where employees can succeed has a long history. We continually evolve our workplace to ensure employees have the opportunity to thrive and grow."
