RBC recognized as a top innovator: CIO Magazine
RBC has been honoured by the 21st annual CIO 100 Awards program
as an innovative organization that uses IT effectively to
create business value. The Wireless Road Advisor (WRA) project
received the distinction.
Developed in-house by RBC Insurance, RBC Insurance Technology
and Applied Innovation, WRA is a first-in-Canada solution
that, through the customization and integration of several
software packages, enables insurance road advisors to use
their laptops to retrieve and send claims information via
a wireless network. The program provides home and auto claims
road advisors with on-site access to critical claims data
via a network card slotted into their laptops.
This kind of innovation is at the forefront of fast mobile
financial services and critical for enterprises needing to
make adjustments and decisions quickly, while still keeping
a large number of agents in the field.
Every year, the CIO 100 Awards honour 100 companies that
demonstrate excellence and achievement in IT. RBC will be
included in the online coverage of the CIO 100 award winners
and in a special issue of CIO magazine on August 15, 2008.
