RBC named most valuable brand in Canada
July 2006- RBC was named the
most valuable brand in Canada in the first annual ranking
of the Best Canadian Brands 2006. The ranking was conducted
by Interbrand and appeared in the Globe and Mail's Report
on Business. RBC's brand was valued at $3.99 billion.
Using the 2005 edition of the Report on Business Top 1000
list of the largest publicly traded Canadian corporations,
Interbrand evaluated brands owned and operating in Canada
for their financial strength, importance in driving consumer
selection, and the likelihood of ongoing branded revenue.
Brands were evaluated on the basis of how much they're likely
to earn in the future, with three core components:
- Financial Analysis - forecasting the current and future
revenue specifically attributable to the branded products;
- Brand Analysis - a measure of how the brand influences
customer demand at the point of purchase; and
- Brand Strength Score - a measure of the brand's ability
to secure ongoing customer demand (loyalty, repurchase and
retention) and thus sustain future earnings.
