RBC named "Canada's Most Respected Corporation"January
26, 2005 - For the third year in a row, RBC has been named "Canada's
Most Respected Corporation " in the annual KPMG/Ipsos Reid poll. The findings
of this poll were reported in The Globe and Mail newspaper yesterday. RBC
achieved this ranking for 2004 by placing first in six of nine categories, including
"Top of Mind Most Respected," "Corporate Governance," "Human
Resources Management," "Financial Performance," "Corporate
Social Responsibility" and "Long Term Investment Value." In the
category of "High Quality Services/Product" RBC ranked 5th, and in "Customer
Service" we placed second. In both categories, RBC was the highest rated
bank. For the 10th consecutive year, RBC was named the top corporation
in the category of "Corporate Social Responsibility." This not only
recognizes our charitable giving, sponsorships, environmental and community activities,
but also celebrates employee volunteerism in communities across the country. In
2004, we contributed more than $59 million to community causes worldwide, through
donations of more than $39 million, and an additional $20 million in the support
and sponsorship of community events and national organizations. For the
third consecutive year, RBC placed first in the category of "Human Resources
Management." For the first time, RBC was rated the second-best company
in Canada for customer service, and the best of any financial institution. This
is up from 7th place last year.
