TORONTO – November 14, 2019 – Recognized for his personal leadership and support of the Women Business Enterprises Canada Council, an organization opening doors for women-owned businesses to supply chains across North America, RBC’s Kiruba Sankar has been awarded the 2019 Supplier Diversity Leader of the Year Award by Women Business Enterprise Canada (WBE Canada).

The awards event marked the 10th anniversary of WBE Canada and the opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of successful women-owned businesses, as well as the individuals and corporations who champion diversity in the supplier base. In the past, RBC has been recognized as Procurement Champion for supporting WBE Canada’s commitment to advancing Canadian women-owned businesses through best-in-class procurement processes.

The Supplier Diversity Leader of the Year Award recognizes Kiruba’s tireless efforts in promoting Women Business Enterprise in Canada and the US. Since joining WBE Canada’s Board of Directors, Kiruba has focused on expanding Corporate Membership and developing its resource base to ensure the organization’s efforts are well supported.

He promotes WBE at RBC and at meetings and events across Canada and the US. Kiruba is also Chair of WBE Canada’s Business Development Council and was a contributor to the Canadian WBE’s trade mission to the US for the last two years.

This award recognizes an individual within the industry and corporate member of WBE Canada who has demonstrated and supported Women Business Enterprises in Canada, acting as role model, advocate and champion in supporting women-owned business in corporate supply chains.
