TORONTO, September 11, 2012 – RBC has been named one of Canada's Greenest Employers, according to a competition organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers project. Now in its sixth year, this special designation recognizes the employers that lead the nation in creating a culture of environmental awareness in their organizations.
Winners were evaluated on four factors: unique initiatives and programs; reduction of environmental footprint; employee involvement, and the link between the company’s ‘green’ initiatives and its public identity. RBC was recognized for our footprint reduction initiatives, application of our responsible procurement policy, new financing products for solar power projects, and continuing commitment to water related causes through the RBC Blue Water Project.
“We’re pleased to be recognized as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers for the fourth consecutive year,” said Sandra Odendahl, Director of Corporate Sustainability, RBC. “Employees are at the heart of our commitment to environmental sustainability and they continue to push us in exciting new directions that help us reduce our environmental footprint, lend responsibly and provide our clients with new environmental products and services.
RBC is recognized among the world's financial, social and environmental leaders and is listed on the 2011-2012 Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the DJSI North American Index. RBC has been named one of Canada's 50 Most Socially Responsible Corporations and one of the Best Workplaces in Canada.
