EnvironmentRBC Financial Group named to 2005 Dow Jones Sustainability
Index TORONTO,
September 2004 — For the fifth consecutive year, RBC Financial Group
has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index, an annual review that
recognizes the world's financial, social and environmental corporate leaders.
The 2005 Index lists over 300 companies from 24 countries that lead
their industries in terms of sustainability, a business approach to creating long-term
shareholder value by taking on opportunities and managing risks stemming from
economic, environmental and social developments. Companies included on the Index
are recognized as being the top 10 per cent in corporate sustainability, leading
their industries in best practices. RBC was selected for the fifth
consecutive year because of its commitment to environmental and social standards
and strong financial results. The Dow Jones Sustainability World
Indexes were introduced in 1999 and were the first global indices to track the
financial performance of leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide. The
annual review influences the investment decisions of asset managers who use the
DJSI family as objective benchmarks for sustainability portfolios.
RBC congratulates the other 11 Canadian companies that are included on the Index.
