RBC donates $75,000 to Brandon University's Rural Development
Program
March, 2005 — RBC will donate $75,000 over three years to
support the Visiting Scholar in Rural Development program,
at Brandon University. This program will ensure the continued
community sustainability and development in rural Canada.
The Department of Rural Development was established in 1999
to give students a through understanding of the social, economic
and environmental issues that face rural communities, such
the need for economic diversification and community infrastructure,
as well as the chronic need to maintain population levels,
attract health care professionals, and ensure the lively presence
of leisure and recreation opportunities.
The Visiting Scholar in Rural Development program will allow
for the appointment of a visiting faculty member so that the
Department can increase research activity, provide a greater
range of courses for students, ensure the completion of thesis
projects that would otherwise be unavailable, and to develop
ongoing collaboration with government and community partners.
RBC Financial Group supported Brandon University since 1989.
