The RBC Royal Bank Cup

GRAND PRAIRIE, May 8, 2004 - Every year, 30 teams across North America vie for the Stanley Cup. Every year, 137 teams across Canada vie for the RBC Royal Bank Cup, Junior 'A' hockey's national championship.

This year, the RBC Royal Bank Cup is being held in Grand Prairie, Alberta, 450 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.

The 2004 RBC Royal Bank Cup features the Nanaimo (BC) Clippers from the Pacific region, the Kindersley (SK) Klippers from the Western region, the Aurora (ON) Tigers from the Central region, the Nepean (ON) Raiders from the Eastern region and the host team, the Grande Prairie (AB) Storm.

Calendar of Events:

  • May 8-13: Round-robin tournament (top four teams advance to semi-finals);

  • May 14: RBC Junior 'A' scholarship presentations at the Awards Banquet;

  • May 15: Tournament semi-finals;

  • May 16: Tournament finals (broadcast on TSN and RDS).

In addition to some exciting hockey, the RBC Royal Bank Cup is also a community celebration featuring the RBC Olympic Fanfair; RBC-sponsored golf tournaments; street hockey games for charity; and visits to local schools by players to be 'reading buddies', play floor hockey and share information about the team's home with local students.
