RBC donates $90,000 to Dance Saskatchewan

Dance Saskatchewan
Jill Reid and two young dancers from Dance Saskatchewan recognize RBC's $90,000 donation at a cermony in Saskatoon (check). RBC's donation will support Dare to Dance, an annual show starring Saskatchewan performers who have gone on to join professional companies and pursue careers in the arts.

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, May 31, 2005 — RBC Dominion Securities, through RBC Foundation, announced a $90,000 commitment to Dance Saskatchewan Inc., becoming title sponsor for Dare to Dance through 2007. For 12 years, this unique annual show has saluted the accomplishments of Saskatchewan performers who have gone on to join professional companies and pursue careers in the arts. RBC Foundation has been a supporter of Dance Saskatchewan Inc. since 1996.

"At RBC, we're passionate about supporting arts and culture because we realize a community's prosperity depends on more than just economic sustainability," said Dale Huisman, branch manager, RBC Dominion Securities, Saskatoon. "We believe in the power of the arts to enrich our lives and enhance our communities, and RBC is proud to support organizations that harness and promote creative talent, such as Dance Saskatchewan Inc."

Susan Fowler Kerry, Chair, Dance Saskatchewan Inc. said, "To receive such overwhelming enthusiasm for all our work means more than words can express. RBC works with the best performing arts organizations in the country, and their validation has provided us with renewed energy to carry on with our vision of what dance can achieve."

"We view this funding as an investment and I know that we can guarantee great returns. Our Centre provides a place for some of our most marginalized youth to find expression of their essential humanity," said Jill Reid, Executive Director, Dance Saskatchewan Inc.

RBC Financial Group (RBC) supports organizations, initiatives and events that contribute to Canada's communities through nurturing and celebrating artistic expression. In 2004, RBC supported national and community theatre, dance, choral and orchestral music, and the visual arts, including the sixth annual RBC Investments Painting Competition. Focus areas include programs that help bring the arts to children.
