Advice for RBC Clients

February 16, 2007 — In 2005, the U.S. government approved changes to the timing of observance of DST as part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 in a bid to conserve electricity by extending DST for a period of four weeks. Governments in Canada*, Bermuda, The Bahamas and Turks & Caicos made similar changes to their DST rules to be consistent with the U.S. time changes.

Starting in March 2007, these countries* will observe DST three weeks earlier and end a week later than previously observed.

Frequently asked questions:

Will there be any impact on my accounts or services with RBC?

RBC’s systems and processes have been designed to operate with DST for many years. We do not anticipate any disruption in the services that RBC provides to our customers.

What is RBC doing to protect my financial services? Will RBC systems be impacted by the new DST schedule?

We have been reviewing all of our internal systems and processes for several months now, and we do not anticipate any adverse impact. We are also working closely with our third-party service providers to ensure a smooth transition to the new DST schedule.

What do I need to do?

If you use a personal computer or other calendaring device, we recommend that you check your software/device vendor’s website for information on any required DST updates.

* Please note that Saskatchewan does not observe DST.
