Union
Bank of Halifax Farm Exhibition programme, 1907
Banks
traditionally sponsored agricultural exhibitions and
contests, often providing the medals, trophies and prize
money awarded to contestants. Very much a central figure
in the community, the local bank manager was frequently
a member of the panel of judges and generally awarded
the bank's prizes to winners.
