Selon l\u2019Agence internationale de l\u2019\u00e9nergie et les donn\u00e9es d\u2019Underground Ventures, un investisseur sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans la g\u00e9othermie, le financement consacr\u00e9 \u00e0 ces technologies de nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration a atteint environ 3\u202fmilliards de dollars canadiens en 2025<sup><a href=\"#legal-1\" data-dig-id=\"LP-13277-d2e91bfd\" data-dig-label=\"1\" data-dig-action=\"link click\" data-dig-category=\"LP\" class=\"rbc-link-format\">1<\/a><\/sup>. Les \u00c9tats-Unis et l\u2019Indon\u00e9sie dominent actuellement les investissements dans les projets de production d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 et de chauffage g\u00e9othermiques<sup><a href=\"#legal-2\" data-dig-id=\"LP-13277-c7c8fd0b\" data-dig-label=\"2\" data-dig-action=\"link click\" data-dig-category=\"LP\" class=\"rbc-link-format\">2<\/a><\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bien que le Canada dispose d\u2019une expertise de calibre mondial en mati\u00e8re de sous-sol, de gradients g\u00e9othermiques \u00e9lev\u00e9s dans l\u2019Ouest et le Nord-Ouest du pays, ainsi que d\u2019entreprises comme Eavor, DEEP Earth Energy et Tu Deh-Kah Geothermal, le d\u00e9ploiement de la g\u00e9othermie \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle nationale accuse un retard consid\u00e9rable. Le Canada produit actuellement moins de six m\u00e9gawatts (MW) d\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 g\u00e9othermique, soit 0,004&nbsp;% de la capacit\u00e9 install\u00e9e du pays<sup><a href=\"#legal-3\" data-dig-id=\"LP-13277-8a2fc5b7\" data-dig-label=\"3\" data-dig-action=\"link click\" data-dig-category=\"LP\" class=\"rbc-link-format\">3<\/a><\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selon l\u2019Agence internationale de l\u2019\u00e9nergie, les investissements mondiaux dans l\u2019\u00e9nergie g\u00e9othermique pourraient atteindre 3&nbsp;000 milliards de dollars canadiens d\u2019ici 2050<sup><a href=\"#legal-4\" data-dig-id=\"LP-13277-a9017ce6\" data-dig-label=\"4\" data-dig-action=\"link click\" data-dig-category=\"LP\" class=\"rbc-link-format\">4<\/a><\/sup>, les pays recherchant une source d\u2019\u00e9nergie de base fiable et sans \u00e9missions pour compl\u00e9ter les \u00e9nergies renouvelables intermittentes. Les technologies avanc\u00e9es sont essentielles pour d\u00e9velopper la g\u00e9othermie, qui \u00e9tait traditionnellement limit\u00e9e \u00e0 certaines zones pr\u00e9sentant une g\u00e9ologie appropri\u00e9e. Tech giants including Google, Meta, and Microsoft are investing heavily in geothermal partnerships. China, Indonesia, and the Philippines are rapidly expanding deployment. If Canada does not act with coordinated policy, regulatory harmonization, and strategic R&amp;D investment, it risks becoming a technology taker rather than a technology maker in a sector where Canadian subsurface expertise and geological endowment offer natural advantages.
