The RBC Green Skills Scholarship could help you make an impact on environmental challenges. This scholarship awards up to 40 scholarships annually up to $5,000 to students, aged 25+, entering or returning to school and committed to environment focused education within buildings and construction, agriculture and food production, transportation, waste management and recycling, or renewable energy.

About the Scholarship

The RBC Green Skills Scholarship is for students (aged 25+) in, or returning to, school with a focus on environmental solutions.

Application Requirements

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada; or have proof of status as a Protected Person or Convention Refugee from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (claimants are not eligible).
  • Be an adult learner aged 25 or older who is starting or returning to post-secondary studies to develop innovative solutions to pressing environmental challenges.
  • Be active in the workforce or seeking employment (not retired).
  • Be entering or enrolled in part-time or full-time studies at the Bachelor’s, Master’s (course-based or research-based), Advanced Diploma, Post-Graduate Diploma, Technical Diploma, or Post-Graduate Certificate level in an eligible field of study.

    Applicants pursuing a Bachelor’s degree must not have graduated from high school within the past seven years.
    o  
    Applicants pursuing a Master’s degree must not have completed or graduated from a post-secondary program (i.e., Bachelor’s degree, Post-Graduate Diploma) within the past two years.
  • All applicants must have at least one year (or two terms) of studies remaining at the time of applying for the scholarship.
  • Please note: In 2025, the program will be open to the first 200 submitted applications only.

Study Requirements

Areas of study must be related to one of the following greening sectors:

  • Buildings and construction
  • Agriculture and food production
  • Transportation
  • Waste management and recycling
  • Renewable energy

Award Allocation

Awards are evenly split between recipients and their institutions. The recipients' portion may be used to support students housing, transportation, textbooks or equipment or childcare.
