BlackBerry Partners Fund

The BlackBerry Partners FundTM is a $150 million venture capital fund focused on applications and services for the BlackBerry® platform and other mobile platforms including mobile commerce (payments, advertising, retailing and banking), vertical and horizontal enterprise applications, communications, social networking, location-based applications and services (navigation and mapping), media and entertainment, and lifestyle and personal productivity applications. The Fund will consider all stages of development.

The BlackBerry Partners Fund will consider companies that possess many or all of the following elements:

  • Potential product and market leadership
  • Competitive differentiation
  • Strong management teams
  • Clear revenue & cost model
  • Strong value proposition
  • Defendable IP and/or barriers to entry
  • Reasonable entrance value
  • Capital efficiency

The BlackBerry Partners Fund is set apart from other generalist venture funds that touch on mobile because of our close relationship with Research in Motion as well as RBC and Thomson Reuters. While independently managed, we enjoy unprecedented access to these global brands to leverage their expertise and eco-systems to the benefit of our investee companies. All we do at the BlackBerry Partners Fund is mobile applications and this focus, combined with the entrepreneurial and operational expertise of the investment team, creates a compelling competitive advantage for our investees.

The Fund is co-managed by RBC Venture Partners and JLA Ventures.
