RBC Royal Bank Cup
Every year, 137 teams from across Canada vie for the RBC Royal Bank Cup, Junior ‘A’
hockey’s national championship. Five finalists compete for the RBC Royal Bank Cup in head-to-head
match-ups in the weeklong tournament.
RBC Royal Bank Cup finalists are made up of the host team and four regional winners from the 10
Junior ‘A’ leagues across Canada.
Many NHL players began their careers in Junior ‘A’ hockey competing for the RBC Royal
Bank Cup, including Rod Brind’Amour, U.S. Olympic medallist Scott Gomez and two-time Canadian
Olympic medallist Paul Kariya.
In addition to some exciting hockey, the RBC Royal Bank Cup is a community celebration featuring
activities such as street hockey games for charity, visits to local schools by players to be
‘reading buddies’, coaches forums, and minor hockey skills clinics.
