What is the Canadian Olympic School Program?
RBC is the presenting sponsor of the Canadian Olympic School Program, a school-based curriculum program for school grades 2 through 12 designed to inspire youth to become “Smarter, Better, Stronger” by encouraging children to explore Olympic values while also promoting healthy, active lifestyles.
The program consists of 4 main elements: Values Based Elementary and Deduction, Olympic Project Packs, Olympic School Designations, and an online educational community housed at olympicschool.ca
RBC compliments the Canadian Olympic School Program with its RBC Olympians Program. Our RBC Olympians visit participating schools across the country and work with the students through some of the lesson plans, incorporating their real-life experiences.
What’s new for the 2007/2008 school year?
Engaging over 10,000 classrooms across Canada the Canadian Olympic School Program has evolved into a worldwide best-in-class education. Some of its key goals are to:
- Be a cornerstone element of RBC’s Olympic commitment to youth and communities across Canada
- Emphasize Olympic values instead of Olympic knowledge
- Focus on critical thinking skills instead of individual learning outcomes
- Reach all grades from 2 to 12
- Reach a variety of students, accessing kids with low reading levels, different grades and those for whom English is a second language
- Showcase an enhanced website that allows a wide range of students access to and interaction with Olympic - themed educational materials
