Brad's Bio

A member of Canada’s National Alpine Ski Team since 2001, Brad Spence’s dream is to attain a podium finish for Canada in Alpine Skiing at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Competitive sport has taught Spence the values of commitment and dedication.

Athletic Goals

• Olympic podium
• Win a World Cup race
• Finish in top 5 in Overall World Cup discipline

Favourite Olympic/Sporting Moment

Finishing second in my very first International ski race in Italy when I was 14. I had absolutely no expectations going in, and was by no means favored to do well – let alone stand on the podium.

Best Advice You've Ever Received

• To never give up, regardless of the situation.
• Learn from your mistakes and use them to your advantage in the future.
• To draw something positive even from a bad day or situation.

Being an RBC Athlete means...

I have always felt that giving back to my community was important, and the RBC Olympians Program allows me to do this while also gaining valuable experience in the workplace. Being a full-time ‘athlete’, I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the fact that many of my friends have already graduated University, while I continue to ski for a living, and continue to be relatively uneducated so to speak. Being an RBC Olympian will allow me to experience different aspects of the working world, and hopefully give me some insight into what I would ultimately like to end up doing for a living when I am through with my skiing career.
