Anne-Marie's Bio

After battling through six serious injuries, Alpine skier Anne-Marie made it to the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. Always one to welcome new challenges, the retired two-time National champion skier is now training in the sport of road cycling and finished in the top ten at the 2007 National Championships.

Athletic Goals

I would like to see [skiing] be more accessible. Programs should be in place…because too much talent is being lost. I would like to help my federation with such programs.

Favourite Olympic/Sporting Moment

The opening ceremonies at the 2002 Games. It’s at that moment that I realized how far I’d made it in my sport. To have the chance the walk in the stadium with all the best athletes in Canada, and in the world, was a true honour.

Best Advice You've Ever Received

To give a 100% every run I take down the mountain. In our sport, on a good day, we might get 15 minutes of actual skiing time, so it’s so important to be focused and totally committed to our task.

Being an RBC Athlete means...

It gives me the tools to share my Olympic experience, to motivate people and to get them excited about the Games. It also provides me with great work experience, something I had to put on hold during my athletic career.
