RBC receives Canadian Sport Award for support of Canada's Olympians

March 2005 -- RBC received a Canadian Sport Award for Corporate Excellence in “Individual Athlete Support,” recognizing its historical support of the Canadian Olympic Team that has enabled athletes to compete internationally since 1947. RBC is the oldest corporate sponsor of the Canadian Olympic Committee.

In particular, RBC was honoured for the 2004 RBC Olympians program. Under this program, RBC hired 19 Olympic and Paralympic athletes from across Canada, who travelled to schools and communities, sharing their Olympic experiences and promoting healthy living. During the course of their employment, these athletes also gathered skills and experiences to help them find a career in life after sport.

The Canadian Sport Awards honour the outstanding achievements of Canada's best amateur athletes and leaders, showcasing the heroes that live within sport. The Awards are managed by the True Sport Foundation, a charitable organization committed to ensuring that sport makes a positive contribution to Canadian society, our athletes, and the physical and moral development of Canada's youth.
