RBC and their partner the Royal Canadian Golf Association
have jointly made a commitment to generate $5 Million
for the designated cause of childrens wellness over the
first five years of the sponsorship of the RBC Canadian
Open. In 2009 the inaugural Mike Weir Charity Classic
kicked off tournament week with 100 per cent of the proceeds
benefiting children’s charities.
The 2009 RBC Canadian Open raised a record 1.1 million dollars
for children charities which sets a tournament record for
the most philanthropic dollars raised. The championship's
two charity partners, The Mike Weir Foundation, the national
charity partner, and the Reach Out Centre For Kids (ROCK)
Halton, the local charity partner - both support children's
wellness.
