Arts and Culture
Vibrant communities celebrate arts and culture, and RBC supports
a wide range of initiatives that contribute to the cultural
fabric of our communities.
- The RBC Canadian Painting Competition, established in
1999, nurtures Canadian visual artists early in their careers.
The competition offers one national prize of $25,000 and
two honourable mentions receiving $15,000 each. Vancouver
artist Arabella Campbell was the national winner in 2007.
She was awarded $25,000 for her original work, entitled
Physical Facts Series #6.
- Our art collection was established in 1929 to support
Canadian artists. Today, our collection contains more than
4,000 paintings, prints and sculptures, displayed in RBC
locations around the world.
- RBC supports emerging artists. In 2007, we invested $433,000
in apprenticeship and internship programs. Over the last
five years, the RBC Foundation has donated more than $4.5
million to support visual arts programs across Canada.
