RBC launches new "create your own report" tool
August 18, 2009— Most large, publicly traded companies
produce corporate responsibility or sustainability reports,
but who actually reads them? The two most common complaints
about these reports are that they have too much information
for some readers, and too little for others. Yet it can be
frustrating to look for sustainability information online,
too. How many times have you gone around in circles on a poorly-designed
website, unable to find the logical place where you think
the information should be found. Once you get there, how confident
are you that you've drilled down and clicked on all the right
links to get everything you need? And then, what if you want
to print everything off?
That's why RBC has just launched an
innovative tool that allows people to create their own
version of RBC's corporate responsibility report. All you
need to do is select the content you're interested in, click
one button, and a customized Corporate Responsibility Report
is provided to you as a PDF, which you can view or save.
The online tool pulls content from all the regularly updated
HTML pages found under rbc.com/responsibility, as well as
pulling in static pages from PDFs found elsewhere on rbc.com,
such as our Code of Conduct and our Proxy Circular. It's intended
to be a one-stop solution that will deliver current, complete
content.
We know this isn't a perfect solution. Your definition of
sustainability may be different than ours, and you may be
looking for content that we haven't instructed our tool to
pull into your report. If that's the case, you'll have to
resort to 'search' as we continue to improve our sustainability
reporting and refine the online tool.
RBC has adopted a multi-pronged approach to sustainability
reporting, using a range of formats designed to be accessible
to various audiences. Visit our overview
of RBC's approach to sustainability reporting.
