RBC supports employee volunteers to assist Alberta Flood Relief Efforts

CALGARY, June 28, 2013 - RBC today announced up to an additional $125,000 in donations in recognition of RBC employee volunteers who are assisting relief efforts for employees and communities affected by the flooding in Alberta. Teams of employee volunteers who commit time to helping rebuild and clean up affected areas in southern Alberta will qualify for $1,000 grants to be donated to the Canadian Red Cross.

"I'm very proud of the spirit of volunteerism and generosity RBC employees have shown in support of the recovery and assistance efforts here in Alberta," said Bruce MacKenzie, regional president, Alberta and the Territories. "In the aftermath of this tragedy, now, more than ever, we are here to help one another. We're honored to be able to contribute to the relief effort."

In addition to today's announcement, RBC has also made the following arrangements to support relief efforts:

  • A $125,000 donation was made to the Canadian Red Cross to support relief efforts for those affected by the flooding.
  • All RBC locations across Canada are collecting donations on behalf of the Red Cross to support flood victims.
  • RBC and RBC Insurance clients affected by the floods in Alberta may have special accommodation arranged for short-term payment deferrals on mortgages, personal loans, home insurance, auto insurance, auto loans and credit cards.
  • Small business clients will also be afforded special accommodation through their account managers.
