Royal Bank of Canada Announces Election of
New Director
TORONTO, March 1, 2012 Royal Bank of
Canada (RY on TSX and NYSE) today announced the election of
Richard L. George, O.C. to its board of directors. Mr. George
of Calgary, Alberta is Chief Executive Officer and a director
of Suncor Energy Inc. He also serves as a director of Canadian
Pacific Railway and the Canadian Council of Chief Executives.
Mr. George was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer
of Suncor in 1991. Some of his past honours include being
named "Outstanding CEO of the Year" and receiving
the Canadian Business Leader Award. Mr. George earned a Bachelor
of Science degree in engineering from Colorado State University
and a law degree from the University of Houston Law School.
He is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School Program
for Management Development
