RBC Royal Bank Donates $25,000 to The Red Cross
for Flood Victims in the Richelieu Valley

Montreal, May 17, 2011 - RBC Royal Bank has donated $25,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to help it assist families affected by flooding in the Richelieu Valley.

"We have more than 400 employees and 25 branches and business centres in the Montérégie-South Shore region. Guided by our values and management philosophy, we invest in the well-being of the communities where we are present. That's why we are taking this step, and many others, to provide a measure of relief to our fellow citizens affected by the floods in the Richelieu Valley," explained Patrice Sieber, Vice-President and Regional Operating Officer, Quebec Headquarters, RBC Royal Bank.

Among other things, the Bank is collecting donations at all its Quebec branches and channelling the funds to the Canadian Red Cross to support its efforts to assist these victims.

RBC customers who are among the flood victims may also postpone their mortgage payments for up to six months. In addition, they may reduce their mortgage or credit line payments by paying only the interest owing. Lastly, they also have the option of reducing the frequency of their loan payments.

"We offer these payment terms to all our customers on a regular basis," declared Danielle Demers, Regional Vice-President, Montérégie-South Shore, RBC Royal Bank. But in this particular case, we are going one step further by discussing with our customers the specific financial needs they are facing due to the difficulties caused by the rising waters."
