RBC Capital Markets Appoints Head of European Credit Trading

LONDON, FEBRUARY 21, 2011— RBC Capital Markets, the corporate and investment banking arm of Royal Bank of Canada (RY on TSX and NYSE), today announced that it has appointed Ian Pearce as Head of European Credit Trading, based in London.

Pearce joins RBC Capital Markets from UBS where he held a number of roles since 2001, most recently, Co-Head Sterling Credit and European ABS. At RBC, Pearce will report to John Greenslade, Head of Fixed Income & Currencies Europe, with responsibility for overseeing all credit trading.

Commenting on the appointment, Harry Samuel, Global co-Head of Fixed Income & Currencies, said: "Ian is a fantastic addition to our European platform, where we have a dedicated and experienced credit trading team. Ian and his team will be responsible for ensuring we maintain our position as the market leader in UK credit trading and on all major electronic credit trading platforms."
