RBC Capital Markets appoints Blair Fleming Head of U.S.
Investment Banking
NEW YORK, January 19, 2010 RBC Capital
Markets today announced the appointment of Blair Fleming as
Head of U.S. Investment Banking, based in New York. In this
role, Fleming will oversee RBC Capital Markets' investment
banking businesses in the United States, which includes corporate
finance industry groups, mergers & acquisitions, leveraged
finance and restructuring.
Throughout his 20-plus year career with RBC, Fleming has
held numerous senior roles in the firm's Global Investment
Banking and Global Debt Markets businesses, including his
most recent responsibilities as the Head of Global Syndicated
& Leveraged Finance and Global Infrastructure. Under Fleming's
leadership, RBC's Global Syndicated & Leveraged Finance
business - bolstered by RBC's strong balance sheet - has enjoyed
a track record of success that includes a top-five position
in the North American syndicated and leveraged loan market.
"Blair's long career with RBC, diverse business background
and deep client relationships make him a natural fit to lead
our U.S. investment banking business," said Doug Guzman,
RBC Capital Markets' Head of Global Investment Banking. "Blair's
proven track record of success spans across his senior managerial,
coverage and transaction responsibilities. His leadership
has been instrumental to the growth of our platform."
Fleming will lead RBC's expanding U.S. investment banking
platform. In the past year, RBC Capital Markets has hired
more than 100 senior professionals. Recently, more than a
dozen senior investment bankers have joined RBC's U.S. investment
banking platform to bolster various industry and product groups
including real estate, financial institutions, consumer, healthcare,
technology, financial sponsors and leveraged finance. The
firm has also recently formed new aerospace & defense,
restructuring and transportation groups in the U.S.
Fleming's focus will be to continue to build RBC's U.S. investment
bank - its business, team and client relationships - in a
coordinated way across the organization to best take advantage
of links between geographies, divisions, client groups and
product teams.
