RBC Capital Markets' Passport 2008 Transportation Conference
TORONTO, September 8, 2008 — With challenges
come opportunities. The current softness in the overall economy
has presented many challenges for companies operating in the
freight transportation and airline/aerospace sectors. Despite
this, each sector has come up with innovative ways to combat
these pressures, while positioning themselves to take advantage
of opportunities when economic conditions improve. Volume
weaknesses experienced by the railways have provided the opportunity
to improve operating efficiencies, while the competitive landscape
in trucking has changed dramatically over the past few years.
Record high fuel prices have impacted all transportation related
companies with the airlines taking different measures to cope
with rising costs through fleet optimization, capacity adjustments,
fuel surcharges and new international alliances.
At the upcoming RBC Capital Markets' Passport 2008 Transportation
Conference, we will have the leading players in both the freight
transportation and airline/aerospace sectors discussing industry
trends and new developments through interactive panel discussions
and "fire-side chats".
