RBC helps take some of the stress out of moving
New site offers tips and advice for those moving to a new
home or community
TORONTO, September 3, 2008 — Whether it's taking
a job in another city, getting married, or finding a bigger
place to raise a family, most Canadians will move homes several
times in their lives. In fact, according to 2006 Census Canada
data, 41 per cent of Canada's population aged five or older
had moved at least once in the previous five years. To help
Canadians move more comfortably, RBC has launched a new site,
www.findingyourhome.ca
to give people easy access to a multitude of moving-related
information.
"Moving to a new home is exciting, but it can also be
hectic, even stressful for many of us, especially if it means
relocating to a new municipality, province or country,"
said Teresa Tolhurst, senior manager, RBC Personal Financial
Services. "But preparation and planning, as well as some
good advice can take much of the hassle and anxiety out of
a move. Our comprehensive web site with tips and solutions
makes it easier to settle into your new home stress-free."
The site, www.findingyourhome.ca,
is the only Canadian bank-offered resource to provide aspiring
and existing homeowners with ready online access to extensive
information about:
- Finding a home
- Buying a home
- Selling your home
- Renting a house or apartment
- Moving to a new home
- Getting settled once the move is over
Each topic offers a robust collection of tips, checklists,
information and advice on all facets of the home buying and
moving process, from start to finish. The site also links
to www.communitycorner.ca
- another RBC-related resource and first of its kind among
financial institutions in Canada - which allows visitors to
view demographics, utility company information and community
amenities such as schools, child care and shopping. Visitors
can view three separate neighbourhoods of interest and do
a side-by-side comparison of each community's features.
"We know there's much more to home buying than mortgage
considerations," added Tolhurst. "That's why we
set out to give Canadians, and those new to Canada, a practical
and relevant source of information that takes a look at the
whole home-buying picture."
New information will be added or updated throughout the year
and these sites complement a wide range of resources RBC already
has online. For more information, about how you can make the
most of your move, visit www.findingyourhome.ca
