RBC Rewards to become even more rewarding

More choice, more partners, more products & more travel than ever

TORONTO, October 2, 2007 — RBC's highly successful RBC Rewards program is expanding to give its cardholders even more rewards. These include new experiences, retail partners, gift certificates, and exclusive "financial rewards".

"RBC Rewards cardholders have been telling us they want to use their points to make payments against other RBC products and we listened," said Cathy Honor, head, Cards and Payment Solutions. "RBC Rewards points can now be used to redeem points against payments to Royal Credit Line, personal loans, or even RBC Homeline plans. This is in addition to the Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSP) and Registered Education Savings Plans (RESP) options we introduced in 2003."

Also new this fall from RBC Rewards are:

  • Over 20 "RBC Experiences" - including spa treatments, wine tasting and skydiving.
  • Toyota gift certificates that can be redeemed for parts, service, buying or leasing a vehicle, even an energy efficient hybrid - at over 235 dealers across Canada.
  • Cadillac Fairview Shop! cards - a mall card that can be used at any store within Cadillac Fairview's 29 shopping malls in Canada.

"We are committed to giving our clients the widest range of possibilities whether they're collecting experiences, memories or merchandise," added Honor. "RBC Rewards was already the most flexible and generous program of its kind in Canada. With these new choices our clients truly benefit from one stop reward shopping."

The new redemption options are being added to the popular core travel rewards which include flights, cruises, tours, hotel accommodations, and car rentals. RBC Rewards earned on RBC's premium Visa travel card— Platinum Avion— provide consumers with even more value— in some cases more than twice as much— when redeemed for air travel. Points can also be converted to British Airways Executive Club Miles and Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, or redeemed for travel on virtually any airline worldwide with no blackout periods and no seat limitations.

In addition to travel, the RBC Rewards program already includes over 280 brand name merchandise and items, and a full range of gift certificates and cards from some of Canada's best known retailers such as Hbc, Future Shop, Starbucks and Home Hardware.

One RBC Rewards point is earned for every one dollar charged to a RBC Visa Platinum Avion, Gold Preferred, Platinum Preferred and Classic II Visa cards. For further information about RBC Rewards, please visit www.rbcroyalbank.com/cards/rbcrewards.
