RBC Capital Markets continues to build prime brokerage
capabilities
TORONTO and NEW YORK, January 22, 2007 — RBC
Capital Markets today announced the hiring of Colin Bugler,
a senior banker with extensive international prime brokerage
and equity finance experience. Mr. Bugler's mandate is to
build prime brokerage relationships in targeted markets globally
while maintaining and growing RBC Capital Markets' Canadian
market leadership in prime brokerage.
"We're focused on delivering exceptional prime brokerage
services in sectors where we have an advantage," said
Harry Samuel, who heads up RBC Capital Markets' global foreign
exchange and commodities. "For example, we're very strong
globally in resources, from sales and trading to research
to investment banking — so we're making a real difference
to clients who have mining and energy interests. Another strength
we have comes from our acquisition of Carlin Financial Group
last year and their focus on emerging hedge funds. Our prime
brokerage for this sector is widely recognized as a market
leader."
Mr. Bugler, who joins RBC Capital Markets as managing director,
equity finance, has extensive experience in international
prime brokerage and equity finance with Merrill Lynch and
more recently, Bank of Nova Scotia. He will report to Deborah
D'Arcy, who manages a Top 15 international treasury operation.
RBC is a panel member of BBA LIBOR panels for CAD, GBP and
USD.
"Mr. Bugler's international experience will be invaluable
to our ongoing expansion of our prime brokerage capability,"
said Ms. D'Arcy.
