RBC Capital Markets appoints former New York State Housing
Commissioner Judith A. Calogero to its tax credit syndication
group
NEW YORK, January 16, 2007 — RBC Capital Markets,
the corporate and investment banking arm of RBC, today announced
the appointment of former New York State Commissioner of Housing
Judith A. Calogero to its tax credit syndication group, Apollo
Equity Partners.
Serving as Apollo's Regional Director, Northeast in tax credit
equity partnerships, Ms. Calogero will also work closely with
RBC Capital Markets' Housing Capital Group, led by Bob Spangler.
She will report to Sebastian Corradino, Managing Director
and Head of Apollo Equity Partners.
Ms. Calogero brings over 25 years of housing experience,
from community organizer to Executive Director of Utica Neighborhood
Housing Service Inc. and Executive Director of the New York
State Rural Housing Coalition, Inc. From 2002 to 2006, Ms.
Calogero was Commissioner of Housing in the New York State
Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR), where she
directed a staff of nearly 1,000 and advised Governor George
Pataki on all housing policy and community development issues.
For the last 11 years, she served in various leadership roles
for New York State, including:
- President, then Chair of the Housing Trust Fund Corporation
- Deputy Commissioner, then Commissioner of Housing
- Chair & CEO, Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation
- Board Member, NY State Housing Finance Agency
- Board Member, State of NY Mortgage Agency & Mortgage
Insurance Fund
- Board Member, NY State Affordable Housing Corporation
- Board Member, Harlem Community Development Corporation
- Member, Editorial Advisory Board of the Affordable Housing
Finance magazine
- Member, National Council of State Housing Agencies
- Board of Trustees, The College of Saint Rose (her undergraduate
alma mater).
During her tenure in the NY State DHCR and its sister agencies,
nearly
$10 billion was invested in affordable housing in the state
of New York. As a result, more than 199,000 affordable housing
opportunities have been provided for low- and middle-income
families. Ms. Calogero and her staff created and implemented
new programs including an initiative to enhance the economic
vitality of Main Streets, a State Low-Income Housing Tax Credit
and a program to improve housing accessibility for persons
with disabilities.
