NEW YORK, January 16, 2007 — RBC Capital Markets, the corporate and investment banking arm of RBC, today announced the appointment of former New York State Commissioner of Housing Judith A. Calogero to its tax credit syndication group, Apollo Equity Partners.

Serving as Apollo's Regional Director, Northeast in tax credit equity partnerships, Ms. Calogero will also work closely with RBC Capital Markets' Housing Capital Group, led by Bob Spangler. She will report to Sebastian Corradino, Managing Director and Head of Apollo Equity Partners.

From 2002 to 2006, Ms. Calogero was Commissioner of Housing in the New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR), where she directed a staff of nearly 1,000 and advised Governor George Pataki on all housing policy and community development issues. For the last 11 years, she served in various leadership roles for New York State, including:

  • President, then Chair of the Housing Trust Fund Corporation
  • Deputy Commissioner, then Commissioner of Housing
  • Chair & CEO, Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation
  • Board Member, NY State Housing Finance Agency

  • Board Member, Harlem Community Development Corporation
  • Member, Editorial Advisory Board of the Affordable Housing Finance magazine
  • Member, National Council of State Housing Agencies
  • Board of Trustees, The College of Saint Rose (her undergraduate alma mater).

During her tenure in the NY State DHCR and its sister agencies, nearly
$10 billion was invested in affordable housing in the state of New York. As a result, more than 199,000 affordable housing opportunities have been provided for low- and middle-income families. Ms. Calogero and her staff created and implemented new programs including an initiative to enhance the economic vitality of Main Streets, a State Low-Income Housing Tax Credit and a program to improve housing accessibility for persons with disabilities.

"We are delighted that a person of Judy's depth and energy is joining our team," said Corradino. "We expect this will mean great things for our work in the Northeast and nationally. Judy's unparalleled experience and knowledge of housing finance will be of great benefit to our clients."
