DRIVE App Android Permissions & Uninstall Instructions

In order to use the DRIVE app you must accept a list of permissions which will give you access to a range of services.

The following table lists the permissions, their descriptions and why access is required. Please note that the presentation of this list of permissions and which items appear will differ depending on your device model, platform and OS version.

Permission Why Drive needs access
Camera – Access viewfinder Used to scan your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
Photos – Access Library Used to enable you to upload a photo of your vehicle from your photo gallery
Notifications – May include alerts, sounds and icon badges Used for sending notifications when recall notices have been identified for your vehicle or relevant news articles are available.
Device access – Phone vibration Used when receiving push notifications
Feedback or rating – Provide in-app feedback Used for Feedback feature
Your Location – Approximate location (network-based), precise location (GPS and network-based) Used by Google Maps to find current location of user
Compass – Allow DRIVE to access compass to better locate your position and orientation. Used to show nearby Petro-Canada gas stations and RBC preferred dealers
Calendar – Access Calendar Used to add or modify dealer service appointments

To uninstall the DRIVE app from your Android device:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Select “Apps” (or “Application manager” on some devices)
  3. Locate and select the DRIVE app and then tap “Uninstall”. This will automatically delete the app from your device.
