Meeting the Challenges of Global Banking

Corporate Citizenship

Stories of generous acts - large and small, corporate and individual - enrich the history of RBC Financial Group and provide roots that go deep into each and every community in which we operate.

In large cities and small towns, RBC's employees donate their time, energy and expertise - serving on local boards and volunteering for everything from fund-raising to driving rural school buses before work. The earliest records of Royal Bank meticulously record donations to local charitable organizations and chronologically detail individual and branch acts of community involvement. Staff have traditionally raised funds and collected toys and food for holiday season hampers, knitted articles of clothing to support troops during the war, and participated in disaster relief efforts, such as manning sand bag brigades in Manitoba and Quebec.

Each year RBC Financial Group, as a founding member of the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy's Imagine program, donates one percent of its average annual net income before taxes to support charitable organizations in the areas of education, health, social services, civic and arts and culture. Over the past 10 years, RBC Foundation has donated more than $200 million, supporting more than 3,000 charities each year.
