1. Is it okay to offer programming to only one age group (e.g. 6 - 11 year olds)?
Yes, applications for programs that will be offered to any subset of the 6 - 18 year old audience are eligible for consideration.
2. Are schools eligible to apply for an RBC After School Grant?
Publicly funded elementary and high schools are eligible to apply. Public schools, through their governing school boards are considered qualified donees by Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) or are CRA registered charitable organizations and therefore eligible to apply. Preference will be given to proposals from community-based organizations with multiple program partners and volunteers and that have broad participant appeal within a community.
Note: RBC does not provide grants to private or independent (fee based) schools.
3. Why are audited financial statements a requirement?
RBC requires audited financial statements for all donations requests greater than $5,000. Audited financial statements provide the best possible indication of the financial health and management of an organization prior to committing substantial funds to an organization.
4. Can we submit reviewed financial statements and then if selected have our statements audited?
No. To be considered for a grant, audited financial statements must be submitted with your application package.
5. Who selects the grant recipients?
Regional Selection Panels composed of youth and education experts assess eligible applications on a competitive basis and select the successful grant recipients.
6. Who can we contact for questions or feedback?

7. When will the recipients be advised of funding?
Selection panels will meet across Canada to select the new RBC After School Grant recipients. All new program applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by June.
8. Do start-up after school programs have a chance against existing after school programs?
Yes. Many grant recipients selected since 1999 have been established charitable organizations applying to start up a new after school program. Organizations applying for a grant to support an existing after school program are expected to enhance or enrich the existing program.
9. Can we apply for a grant if we have applied for, but not yet been granted registered charitable status?
No. Only organizations with current registered charitable status may apply. RBC will confirm registered charitable status of all applicants with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
10. Are we eligible to apply for an After School Grant if we receive funding from United Way?
Yes. As an exception to our general giving guidelines, RBC will consider applications from United Way funded agencies for an RBC After School Grant.
11. Can we send one application to request a grant for the five after school program locations our organization operates?
No. You must submit a separate application for each program location. However, if your program is providing service to the same group of children and must operate from more than one activity site you need submit only one application.
12. What is the fax number or e-mail address to submit the application?
We are unable to accept applications by fax or e-mail. Applications must be sent by regular mail.
13. How can we apply for a general donation from RBC Foundation if we are not eligible for an After School Grant?

14. How can we confirm that RBC has received our application?
Please provide your email address along with other contact information on the "Sign Here" page at the end of the application form. We'll e-mail you to confirm we've successfully received your application. If you do not hear back within three weeks of submitting please send us an email.
15. Are there certain participant activities we must deliver to be an RBC After School Grant recipient?
Programs that deliver a wide range of activities that provide opportunities for skill development are preferred to programs that provide primarily "free-play time".
