RBC After School Grants Project
RBC has been funding after school programs since 1999, with $19 million given through 656 grants to 198 different organizations that have helped more than 19,000 children over the past ten years.
RBC After School Grant recipient programs offer a range of structured, supervised activities that encourage social skills and self-esteem. 40 per cent of the After School Programs RBC funds report increased academic performance and improved social skills of their participants. Activities such as computer instruction, sports, literacy tutoring, music and art lessons, nutrition guidance, and homework-help provide kids with opportunities to gain an area of competence outside of academics and benefit their self-esteem.
Each year RBC has a call for proposal, where new organizations can apply for an After School Grant. Working with local Community Selection Panels, RBC determines which of the many strong programs from across the country should receive funding each granting year. Normally we announce our recipient organizations in late summer and the granting cycle follows the academic school year.
