RBC Foundation endows new professorship at SFU School of Business

VANCOUVER, BC, October 21, 2004 - A new professorship endowment from the RBC Foundation will strengthen SFU Business' leadership in the field of innovation and technology.

The $600,000 endowment for the RBC Professorship in Technology and Innovation will support specialized research and educational initiatives at the new Segal Graduate School of Business. Dean Ernie Love will be the first holder of the professorship. An engineer by training, Love is an internationally recognized scholar in management science and operations research. He also actively supports B.C.'s technology sector.

Love will work with the new research centres at the Segal Graduate School of Business and with the Management of Technology MBA program, focusing on best practices for deploying and managing innovation in emerging technologies.

"Our partnership is about more than financial support", says Graham MacLachlan, RBC Royal Bank. "As a long-standing partner with SFU, we've provided graduate students with hands-on work experience and mentorship from seasoned managers. We're excited to be furthering our partnership through today's announcement of the RBC Professorship."

RBC Financial Group is a committed partner in education, donating $3 million for education in the province of BC in the last five years and over $9 million annually across Canada.
