RBC Letter

Reflections on our times

RBC Letter reflects RBC's keen interest in corporate citizenship, and presents a Canadian perspective on subjects ranging from self-help through management to history and philosophy. It is published exclusively online, several times a year, with both new topics and revisions of classic Letters from the past.

Current issue

Bring Me A Ruler Please (September 2006): The concept of a system of measurement is woven into the cultures of every commercial nation on earth. While a universally consistent system seems a straightforward desire, deciding on one is anything but straightforward. 'Bring Me a Ruler Please' posits why the decision is such a complex one, and what role human nature might play in making it that way.

Learn about the history of RBC Letter

The first Royal Bank of Canada Monthly Letter was published in April 1920, and is still published today, under the name RBC Letter.

Discover the story behind this historic Canadian publication on the RBC Letter History page.

Did You Know?
In December 1943, Mr. John R. Heron, Public Relations Adviser, took over the writing of the Monthly Letter. The Executive decided that our letter should deal with subjects of general interest which would appeal to a far wider reading public, not only to groups interested in economic and related subjects.
