The RBC Blue Water Project™ is a wide-ranging, multi-year program to help foster a culture of water stewardship across Canada and abroad, so that people have fresh water today and tomorrow.

Community Action Grant Application
These applications are accepted year long.

Leadership Grant Application
RBC Blue Water Project Leadership Grant Update (July, 2008)

The first Leadership Grant period of the RBC Blue Water Project is now closed.

We received 206 applications from organizations, with requests in excess of $25 million to support initiatives that protect watersheds and ensure access to clean drinking water around the world.

Now, our team of professional grant-makers will do a thorough evaluation of each of the 206 applications. We will create a shortlist of those that best meet our criteria and will then engage our regional grant-making professionals and RBC Blue Water Project Advisory Panel to determine which of the 206 applications should be recommend for funding. Then, the final list will be submitted the RBC Foundation Board of Directors for approval.

Successful grant applicants will be notified in September, 2008. Grant applicants that are not successful this time may apply for funding during the next grant period. The next deadline for Leadership Grant applications is March 06, 2009.

The RBC Blue Water Project is a ten-year, $50-million commitment. We have pledged $10 million to One Drop, and will disburse the remaining $40 million between now and 2018.

In 2008, we expect to provide funding of $1.2 million in Leadership Grants, and $200,000 in Community Action Grants. From 2009 to 2019, we will provide Leadership Grants twice a year, and Community Action Grants on an ongoing basis.
