RBC named one of world's Top 100 sustainable companies
DAVOS, Switzerland, January 27, 2006 — RBC Financial
Group has been named one of the world's top 100 sustainable
companies, according to the second annual "Global 100"
ranking announced at the World Economic Forum today.
The Global 100 list is based on research and analysis by
Innovest Strategic Value Advisors, and identifies companies
that have the best-developed abilities, relative to their
industry peers, to manage the environmental, social and governance
risks and opportunities they face. The companies were selected
from the Innovest universe of around 1,800 publicly-traded,
MSCI World-listed companies.
Companies were rated on such criteria as strategic governance,
environmental initiatives, and human capital/labour relations
practices.
This honour adds to an already impressive suite of recognition
garnered by RBC for programs and performance related to sustainability
and corporate responsibility.
RBC Financial Group is listed on the 2006 Dow Jones Sustainability
Index, recognizing the world's financial, social and environmental
corporate leaders, as well as the Jantzi Social Index and
the FTSE4Good Index. RBC was also recently named "Canada's
Most Respected Corporation" for the fourth consecutive
year in the annual KPMG/Ipsos Reid Poll, including topping
the poll in the categories of "Corporate Social Responsibility"
and "Corporate Governance."
In 2005, RBC was among 60 large companies worldwide to be
recognized as leaders in understanding and addressing climate
change issues by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP3), an
initiative sponsored by 155 leading institutional investors.
