Homework help goes online

Doing homework can be tough for students - and their parents. But TVOntario's Ask A Teacher website is taking some of the pain out of the chore.

TVOntario's Ask A Teacher website provides high school students with free, detailed, real-time homework help from certified Ontario teachers, and an approachable space where they can practice concepts learned in school.

Students have access to some great features, including:

  • Ask a Teacher Chat Rooms, available Sunday to Thursday, 5.30 to 9.30 pm E.S.T., where they can take part in real-time one-on-one tutorials with teachers.

  • The Brain Bank, where they can find thousands of practice exercises, questions and answers, and a Super Glossary of terms in science, math and English.

  • The Essay Feedback service, launched in February 2005, where they can receive helpful comments on their work from certified teachers.

The Ask A Teacher website has been live since May 2001, and receives an average of 10,000 visits each month.

RBC has been involved with the Ask A Teacher website since 2002, and in 2005, we announced that we will donate $225,000 over three years to promote the site widely to children, adults, and teachers across Ontario, and to make it accessible to more and more students who need homework help.
