RBC Centura donates $25,000 to North Carolina Futures for Kids program

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C., July 6, 2005 — RBC Centura is continuing its support of the North Carolina Futures for Kids (F4K) program. The statewide program, based in Raleigh, is dedicated to bridging the gap between the hopes, dreams and skills of students in North Carolina and the workforce development needs of local communities. RBC Centura is donating $25,000 and raising awareness of the program within the business community through a series of community meetings.

"I am pleased that RBC Centura is once again participating in this great opportunity to meet the career and planning needs of 13,000 students in 12 counties," said Susan Milliken, development manager, Futures for Kids. "RBC Centura's previous contributions helped Futures for Kids launch its 2003 pilot program."

Futures for Kids is a public-private partnership that matches students with relevant and rewarding career possibilities through easy-to-use online assessments. Students are then linked to multiple community resources, such as career mentors and local employers, who can offer job shadowing and internship opportunities.

In addition to its donation, RBC Centura will hold community meetings and sponsor luncheons to introduce the program to its customers throughout North Carolina. Verna Graff-Gessaman, senior manager of community and government affairs at RBC Centura, contributes her time to Futures for Kids by serving on the Futures for Kids Business Steering Committee for 2005-2006.

"RBC Centura is committed to helping improve the lives of people in our local communities," said Scott Custer, CEO, RBC Centura. "We are excited to partner with Futures for Kids as they develop and implement this powerful career exploration and workforce development solution."
