4-H Recognizes RBC for 55 Years of Support

OTTAWA, April 20, 2005 — The Canadian 4-H Council is pleased to announce that long-time supporter RBC Financial Group (RBC) has earned the 'Platinum 4-H Award' for its significant ongoing contributions to 4-H at the national level.

"We're proud to recognize RBC Financial Group as the first financial institution in Canada to achieve this prestigious level of recognition. Our friends at RBC have been with us for more than 55 years, providing invaluable financial and individual support to the 4-H program in Canada. We can't think of a more fitting way to celebrate this enduring partnership," says George Klosler, president of Canadian 4-H Council.

The Platinum 4-H Award represents the highest level of sponsor recognition awarded by the Canadian 4-H Council. Three levels of recognition exist: Friend of 4-H Award, Brass 4-H Award and the Platinum 4-H Award. Levels of recognition are based on the amount of financial and individual support an organization and its employees provides over the course of its involvement with the Canadian 4-H Council. Corporations and associations that hold paid memberships with the Canadian 4-H Council are eligible to have a representative serve on the Council's various national standing committees, including the Board of Directors.

Over the course of its membership, RBC representatives have served on all national committees and the Board of Directors. Member representative Mr. Brian Little, Head, Agriculture/Agribusiness, RBC Royal Bank, served in the capacity of Council president and president of the Canadian 4-H Foundation in 1992 and 1999 respectively.
Mr. Little was awarded 'Lifetime Honourary Membership' with the Council in May 2004.

"RBC has had a long-standing relationship with the Canadian 4-H Council for over half a century, and are proud to support and help our future agricultural leaders reach their full potential," said Brian Little, Head, Agriculture/Agribusiness, RBC Royal Bank. "We have been providing financial services and expert advice to farmers and their families for over 130 years, and we remain committed to helping Canadian producers and Agribusiness firms succeed."

The 4-H Inter-provincial Exchange Program (IPE), one of the Canadian 4-H Council's longest-running national programs, celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2003. The Inter-provincial Exchange has provided the opportunity for thousands of 4-H delegates to travel, experience and become familiar with customs and lifestyles in another province. A reciprocal exchange, IPE takes place in July and August with five delegates from each province taking part in a seven-day family visit in a different part of the country.

4-H is one of the country's longest-running and most respected youth organizations, offering fun, excitement and learning for youth in communities large and small across Canada. More than 9,500 trained volunteer Leaders help 32,000 4-H Members develop self-confidence and learn a wide variety of skills through hands-on project work. The Canadian 4-H Council was established in 1933 to co-ordinate all national 4-H affairs. The Council also runs national programs including scholarships, conferences, seminars, and exchanges.
