RBC tops "Most Respected" poll: named Canada's
most socially responsible corporation for tenth year running
January 2005 - For the tenth
year in a row, RBC Financial Group (RBC) was named the top
corporation in Canada in the category of Corporate Social
Responsibility in the annual KPMG/Ipsos Reid survey of "Canada's
Most Respected Corporations" appearing in The Globe
and Mail newspaper. This category includes a consideration
of such activities as charitable giving, employee volunteerism,
sponsorships, community involvement, corporate governance
and ethical business practices.
This honour not only recognizes RBC's charitable giving,
sponsorships, environmental and community activities, but
also celebrates employee volunteerism in communities across
the country. In 2004, we contributed more than $59 million
to community causes worldwide, through donations of more than
$39 million, and an additional $20 million in the support
and sponsorship of community events and national organizations.
RBC was also named Canada's Most Respected Corporation overall,
and achieved this ranking for 2004 by placing first in six
of nine categories, including "Top of Mind Most Respected,"
"Corporate Governance," "Human Resources Management,"
"Financial Performance," "Corporate Social
Responsibility" and "Long Term Investment Value."
In the category of "High Quality Services/Product"
RBC ranked 5th, and in "Customer Service" we placed
second. In both categories, RBC was the highest rated bank.
